Epcot’s flower and garden festival is my second favorite event at Epcot Center. My favorite is of course Food and Wine. Although Food and Wine is my favorite, the Flower and Garden is a close second.
The flower and garden festival is an event held at the World Showcase at EPCOT center which is similar to the Food and Wine in that they take out extra kiosks with special food items and special drinks to sample. They also have beautiful flower displays and Disney topiary displays throughout the park.
This year’s event was as great as I remembered. Here are some of the food and drink items I tried.
Food and Drinks
La Isla Fresca
This kiosk is in the Mexico pavilion. I tried the Jamaican-braised beef and the Sugar Cane Shrimp Skewer. They were both okay, but not amazing. Out of these two items, I liked the Shrimp Skewer more but it really was not too special. It just tasted like yummy shrimp.
At the Lotus House in the China Pavilion, I tasted one of my favorite items at the event. I had the Dragon Pearl which is a mix of beer, honey, cream and boba. This was beyond delicious. My only complaint was that I wish it was a tad bigger, I drank it so fast that it left me wanting more. But I guess that makes sense on why they make it so small.
Bauernmarkt Farmer’s Market
At this kiosk in Germany we had the beer flight. The flight consists of Paulaner Original Munich Lager, Kostritzer Weizen-Mix, and Black Lager. All three beers were delicious but my favorite was the Black Lager.
This kiosk is in The American Adventure pavilion. I tried two things here. First, I had the Smoked Pork Ribs with black bean and corn salad. I paired the ribs with the Shipyard Maple Bacon Porter. The ribs were delicious. The meat fell off the bone super easy which is what I love about good ribs. The porter was amazing. This is the second beer I taste at Epcot from Shipyard Brewery. I am definitely interested in trying more from this brewery since both beers I’ve had from them have been extremely delicious.
The second thing I tried at this kiosk was pulled pig slider paired with Orange Blossom Pilsner. I wasn’t impressed with the pork slider. It was okay, but it is not something I would buy again.
This kiosk is at the Japan pavilion. All I had at this kiosk was the Green Tea Sake and I was not happy with it at all. It was the only thing I bought that I ended up throwing away. I love green tea and I love sake so I figured I would love this, but I really did not like the taste of it at all.
Taste of Marrakesh
At this kiosk at the Morocco Pavilion I had the homemade falafel. They were yummy, but not out of this world delicious. The falafels they usually serve at the quick service restaurant at this pavilion are just as yummy as the ones at this kiosk so it really is not worth the buy during the festival.
At this kiosk in the Canada pavilion, I tried that Seared Scallops and the Beef tenderloin tops. Both tasted good, but the scallops were yummier. They were definitely worth it, but the beef tenderloin tips weren’t that great. At this kiosk we also tried the Maple Popcorn Shake. This was amazing!! I loved it.
At this kiosk I tried the Spicy Hot Dog and I have to say this was my favorite food at the festival. The hot dog is topped with pineapple chutney and plantain chips. I will go back to the festival for this hot dog alone. I have to point out that I am usually not a hot dog person so the fact that I loved this one really says something about how yummy it is. We also tasted the Pineapple Mana from the Maui Brewing Company. It was a yummy beer with a hint of pineapple taste.
Here are some other menus from the festival that we didn’t get to try but are on our to-do list for next time.
Disney Topiary Displays
Besides the delicious food and drinks throughout the festival, we also enjoyed taking pictures with all the topiary displays throughout the park. Here are some our favorite ones.
At this festival, they always have this butterfly garden. My girls love going in there and watching the butterflies. They are beautiful. Sometimes you get lucky and a butterfly will land on your finger. It makes for beautiful pictures.
This is another event they always do during this festival in which you are on a scavenger hunt for hidden Disney eggs throughout the world showcase. We enjoyed this hunt. I wrote a previous blog about this hunt.
